Overview

Route Overview

Embark on a 10-day cultural journey through Southern India, starting in the vibrant city of Hyderabad, then moving on to the ancient ruins of Hampi, and concluding in the historical town of Bādāmi.

Weather Patterns

  • Hyderabad: January (16-28°C, 1 rain day, 6mm), February (18-31°C, 0 rain days, 3mm), March (21-35°C, 1 rain day, 9mm)
  • Hampi: January (18-31°C, 1 rain day, 2mm), February (20-34°C, 0 rain days, 1mm), March (23-37°C, 0 rain days, 2mm)
  • Bādāmi: January (18-30°C, 1 rain day, 1mm), February (19-33°C, 0 rain days, 1mm), March (22-36°C, 0 rain days, 1mm)

This is the region's real dry season — rain is essentially a non-factor across all three cities, with at most a single rain day in any month. The tradeoff shifts from rain risk to heat: January and February stay comfortably warm, but by March, daytime highs climb into the mid-30s (and above 35°C in Hampi), so outdoor sightseeing is best planned for early mornings and evenings later in the window.

Planning Considerations

Traveling during the dry season means rain is rarely a concern — the real variable is heat. January offers the mildest temperatures for extended outdoor exploration of Hampi's ruins and Bādāmi's cave temples, while March brings intense midday sun across all three stops. Balancing your heat tolerance with your preferred travel dates will inform your itinerary decisions.

What This Depends On

  • Your flexibility: If you can adjust dates by a week, you may catch better weather
  • Your priorities: Outdoor plans vs. indoor experiences — decide what matters more for your timing
  • Your budget: Later in the window (March) can mean lower prices, but the heat is far more intense
